The Power of Reward

Most companies recognize the power of reward. Stores offerfree rewards for shopping in their store via a rewardscard. Credit card companies offer all kinds of rewards forusing their credit card. Consumers are responsive to theoffer of rewards—that's why so many companies usethem.
Companies also know about rewards. Many of them offerrewards to their employees for everything from sales quotasto making a specific deadline. Companies also know thatemployees respond to rewards and are motivated to receivethem. Many companies even make sure that they give thataward in a forum where the person is recognized publiclyfor their achievement, or offer group reward where everyoneshares in the success.
So why not use rewards to motivate yourself? If you areworking for yourself, you can set you goals, work hard toget there, and then forget to reward yourself. When youare setting up your goals, why wouldn't you decide on areward for yourself when you reach that goal? The bestpart about setting your own reward is that you know it issomething you will really want.
Getting to goal and rewarding yourself can be an importantpart of maintaining you momentum without getting burnedout. Just going for goal after goal, even when you arerecognized by the company, can become tedious and tiringday after day. The reward you decide for yourself doesn'thave to be money. Maybe it is an afternoon off, maybe itis a movie, maybe even just a relaxing bubble bath. Whatever the reward, make sure it matches the goal. Thebigger the goal you achieved, the bigger the reward!
Try adding rewards to your business. If you want to add alevel of accountability, find someone and tell them whatreward you have chosen when you reach that specific goal. Adding rewards will add a new level of motivation, but alsoa new level of fun. Everyone loves to do what they want todo for a chance and the opportunity to give yourself thatchance shouldn't be passed up.
Rewards do not have to be costly or large. Special cards orthank you notes and evena ten dollar gift card can go along way to rewarding someone.
Remember a few words of praise and even a evening out fordinner can refresh the body, mind, and soul.
