Benchmarks of Jewellery Pendants

Jewellery pendants have held the attention of both men and women since time immemorial. Just like engagement rings, these items of jewellery are also bought by both the genders in equal numbers. A jewellery store will often house more variety for women when it comes to bangles jewellery, necklaces and even ear rings, but pendants seem to be common in the men and women sections. This common love for jewellery pendants has resulted in a large variety of pendants being available to the buyer.
In fact there are so many types of pendants that the variety allows almost everyone to find a pendant that suits his/her needs. The benchmarks on which these pendant types are based are discussed below-
• Shape – Pendants come in various shapes. However, there is no denying the fact that drops are quite popular. Right from Celtic designs to modern one, almost everything can be found today. Depending on the personality and the choice of the buyer a purchase can be made. Do keep the shape of the neck when considering the shape of the pendant. There are certain shapes that suit a particular neck, while others may not be complimentary.
• Size- Pendants come in a lot of sizes. Though size does not matter here like in the case engagement rings and bangles jewellery, they do help to allow a person to choose better. Most people will go with a smaller pendant when looking to wear it on a daily basis or to work and other such formal places. While those looking to make an impact on a special occasion usually will pick a larger pendant.
• Material- Right from silver, gold to platinum, pendants are available in all materials. Some are studded with precious stones while others are known for their semi-precious displays. In fact there are pendants made of the certain specific carat stone too, since they are to be worn for cosmic purposes that are intended to make the wearer’s life better. Here too one can make a choice depending on personal preference and pocket.
• Making method – Some pendants are hand made while some are made with a machine. There are times when the base of the pendant is made by a machine but the setting will be done by hand. In fact the making method of the pendant does influence its cost too.
It is a fact that many people tend to presume that a jewellery necklace is the same thing as a pendant. However, this is not the case. A pendant is sold as an independent piece of jewellery but one needs to buy a chain to wear it since the two are not attached together. However in the case of a necklace the ornament is complete in itself and one can simply wear it without needing something else to hold it in place. Another significant difference between the two is that jewellery pendants are detachable from their chains, while a necklace is a one piece jewellery item.
